  1. TWIRLING TOUCANS
  2.  
  3. YOU'LL NEED:
  4. Scissors
  5. Four 1 1/2-inch-wide strips of paper
  6. Pencil
  7. Markers or paper
  8. White crafts glue or tape
  9. Yarn or string
  10. 1 drinking straw
  11.  
  12. STEP 1
  13. Cut strips of construction paper about 11, 9, 8, and 4 inches long.  
  14.  
  15. Fold the 4-inch-long strip in half lengthwise.  Draw a triangle from the bottom corner to the opposite top corner and cut it out.  
  16.  
  17. For a feathery tail, make several cuts close together to the fold.
  18.  
  19. STEP 2
  20. For the bird head, make a face any way you like with markers in the middle of the 9-inch-long strip of paper. Glue the ends of this strip together.     
  21.  
  22. For the bird body, glue the ends of the 11-inch-long strip of paper together.
  23.  
  24. STEP 3
  25. For feathery wings, make several cuts on each end of the 8-inch strip of paper.  Glue wings to top of the body.  Glue the wide end of the tail to the bottom of the body.  Glue the head to the wings.

  27. Tie a piece of yarn through the bird's head, and tie the other end to the straw.
